In the last issue, we teased you all with big news. If you follow us on social media, you already know, but if you don’t, here’s what happened. We partnered up with the folks from Motorama Productions and Sunrise Safety Services to donate a 20 foot enclosed trailer to the York (PA) Technical School. More specifically, for their Hot Rodders of Tomorrow program.
For those of you not familiar, that is their engine building competition team. As you can see in the pictures that are adjacent to this article, we are helping more young people than we have recently dreamed. You should know that York Tech and the Hot Rodders of Tomorrow program had two teams that finished in the top five in the national competition.
More recently, a local car enthusiast named Dan Ellerman donated a 1963 Mercury Comet to the Foundation. We took ownership of the car just a few days ago. It will be reassembled over at Ron’s Rods and once it’s deemed safe and road able, we will be offering it for sale through Kurzmann Auto Brokerage. Keep an eye on social media for your opportunity to help us with the car. We will be encouraging local rodders, along with area young folks to help us with the reassembly process.
In some other news, we have put together an opportunity for folks to get together over the winter time. Join us at Wegmans in Abingdon, Md. on Wednesday nights for a very informal get together. The market offers you plenty of choices for your dining pleasure and the adjacent dining room gives us room to spread out and enjoy the visit. It’s all on your dime, but join us for a little camaraderie and if the weather is good, you most certainly can bring your Hot Rod from 5-8 pm though March.
I know that we’re looking forward to warmer weather, but as always…. I’ll see you on the return road! – Doug
